Microsoft aims to launch a massive advertising campaign for Windows Vista. To kind of repeat the hullabaloo of decade old Windows 95 launch Microsoft plans to release more details of its plans for Vista. Hype will be created in such a way so that people queue up outside retail stores to get the operating system. The promotional budget will not be finalized till June and after that it will be a blistering all media campaign that is supposed to blanket the each available salable advertising spot in the world.
One of MS’ main objectives will be to convince consumers to go for higher-end versions of Vista. The software giant only last week announced that along with the “Ultimate” edition six new editions will be released.
For consumers
Microsoft is focusing on digital memories, TV and movies, games, music and communications.
For small businesses
Microsoft is pitching Vista as the key to better backup and security, improved sales and marketing pitches, and improved collaboration and mobility, as well as touting it as a hub for financial management.
For big businesses
push centers on management of PCs, security and compliance, controlling information access, and handling an increasingly dispersed work force.
