Tips to design your studio apartment

Do not be limited by the 300-450 sq feet (sometimes even lesser ) of space that you have in your studio apartment. Make the most out of your living space with these really creative and helpful tips.

  • Partitions – In a studio apartment, it is essential that you divide your space into the area you work, dine, entertain or sleep and what better way to do it than get some really awesome partitions to do the deed! There are some amazing partitions available in the market, whether you want a hanging one especially for this particular purpose for some multifunctional partition that will double up as a bookcase or a shelf is entirely up to you. You can also go for drapes or a screen. The best partition idea for a studio apartment will be foldable and movable partitions made of lightweight materials like cardboard or plywood. Use shades of pastel and neutral colors to avoid making the room appear smaller. Do keep in mind that you do not need partitions for every area but only for the bedroom or maybe the kitchen. Using too many will just create a clutter and a mess.
  • Furniture – Keep the furniture minimal and use multifunctional furniture for all purposes. Get creative. You can use a book case as a partition as mentioned earlier or a trunk used for storage purposes and use it as a coffee table. Use a sofa that folds in and out and can be used as a bed when needed. There are also seats and stools available which can store stuff in them. Use chaise-lounges instead of couches and if you use couches, place them at the foot of the bed. Forego desks and study-tables. Use a foldable desk that can be put on your bed instead, if you ever feel the need for one. Most people just like to read lying on the sofa or on the bed. Use a shelf as a desk for working on the laptop if need be.
  • Your stuff – Create as less clutter as possible. Like we told you earlier, get as many furniture pieces as you can wherein you can store stuff as well as use them as normal furniture purposes. For all your clothing hanging needs use a hanger rack which is suspended from the ceiling, that way it takes up lesser space.

Apart from these, use sensible lighting and colors to make your room appear larger than it actually is.
