If you want them to block out light or use them to gain some privacy, opt for heavier materials. If you want them to be an element of art or decoration in your living room , then go for fancy sheer curtains that will do the job. If you want your curtains to be in a room that gets a lot of sunlight, re think on getting silks and bright bold colors on your curtains as they tend to fade a lot faster . Use neutral shades and faux silk for such rooms. If you want to insulate your rooms, use fabrics like suede, velvet and other heavier fabrics to keep the heat in. Silk works well in a formal structure while cotton and linen are suited best for a casual laid-back atmosphere.<\/li>\n<li><strong>What is the right length ?<\/strong> \u2013 The ideal length of curtains should be six inches above the ground however, it is completely up to you how you want those curtains to end and where. To make your windows and rooms look higher, start with a rod that is placed higher than the actual windows. ALWAYS take measurements prior to curtain shopping. Add extra inches to the length and width of the windows for the exact measure of fabric that you need for the curtains. When shopping, use a sample of at least two yards of the fabric you choose and see if it hangs well. You do not want to go for curtains that are too light and do not hang well.<\/li>\n<li><strong>What is the right color?<\/strong> \u2013Curtains , like the rest of the things in a room should match the theme of the room. Choose colors that blend well, even if you are looking for contrast.
