Michelle was always very particular about the way she dressed up and walked especially when she would enter into her office. No doubt, she was beautiful. Her looks had always given her an advantage at least in her professional life and she was well aware of that. She was a market consultant and her job was quite interesting, at least she thought so. However, a few things are always beyond our control. No matter how hard you try if you are destined to get into a trouble you sure can’t help it.
It was the day when Michelle’s dream was about to come true. She had given many presentations even before since it was a part of her job and she was quite good at it but this time it was different. She was amazed to see the audience since there was hardly any space for people to accommodate. Michelle stood backstage waiting for her turn. She was taking walks constantly since she would always get nervous before her presentation but as soon as she was out there, she was unstoppable. This was another reason why her boss simply loved her. “Michelle is the rock star of our organization. I don’t have words to appreciate her efforts. She is truly world class,” her boss had said two days ago when he gathered everyone to tell them about their roles and responsibilities.
“Michelle, It’s your turn next,” a colleague whose name was Helena whispered right into her ears.
“Please put your hands together for our marketing consultant Michelle Brook,” the host announced.
Michelle heard the announcement and ran towards the stage. She heisted a little in the beginning but a few minutes later, no one could move an inch as if she was an angel blessing everyone with her words. She mesmerized the audience for more than two hours. It was truly amazing as her boss was expecting a great footfall.
The moment she finished her presentation, the audience gave her a big round of applause and the auditorium echoed with the sound. Michelle came back running as she rushed towards the rest room.
“Oh my god, I almost died there. I could not control any more,” everyone hard the sound as Michelle had forgotten to turn off her mic. The host had hardly spoken a word when everyone started laughing.
“Oh my goodness,” Helena said as she headed towards the rest room . She at once went inside and snatched the mic. Michelle’s face turned red when Helena told her about the incidence. A few minutes later Michelle came back to the auditorium. All eyes were set on her and the redness of her face was still there.
The next day there was an important meeting in the office and Michelle got unlucky again. She was half an hour late. She pulled her car right in front of her office building and ran upstairs.
“I am extremely sorry everyone. I got late,” she announced.
“Oh, we all know that, tell us something new. How did you get late Michelle? Was there something important than this meeting,” the boss enquired.
“Sir, I slept late last night,” Michelle replied.
“And may I ask you the reason for that,” the boss asked.
“My husband has this device which kept me awake until late,” Michelle said.
Of course, she said what she was not supposed to say but she didn’t mean what everyone thought she meant. Her husband had bought a new cell phone a few days back. Everyone burst into a big laugh before she even realized her mistake.
“Oh, the corrupt minds,” Michelle thought to herself.
We must take it easy, as it’s all right to make mistakes as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone. After all, you are a human being at the end of the day and as they say, it is human to err.
